Hagerstown Aviation Museum Open Airplane Afternoon.
Bring the family to the Hagerstown Aircraft Services facility and climb into the cockpit of the museum’s Fairchild C-82 and C-119 Flying Boxcar. Climb in the cockpit of the museum’s 1943 Fairchild PT-26 WWII Trainer. See other museum aircraft such as the 1943 Fairchild PT-19 WWII Trainer, and the 1928 Kreider Reisner KR-31 biplane. All of these were built in Hagerstown! Historical displays and films are located inside the large aircraft. See airport activity up-close with planes taking off and landing.
“The last ‘Open Airplane Afternoon’ was a great success. Hundreds of visitors came out to the airport and enjoyed the afternoon looking over the museum’s Fairchild aircraft collection”, said John Seburn, museum president. “As the community works toward creating an open to the public museum facility, this is one of only a few events throughout the year that offers the public the opportunity to see many of the aircraft that made Hagerstown famous”.
FREE admission/donations appreciated. Museum merchandise, books, DVDs, hats and T-shirts for sale. All visitors receive a FREE museum magazine and a FREE 14" x 28" color poster of the museum aircraft collection.
“Open Airplane Afternoon” is a great time to donate aviation related artifacts and memorabilia to the museum.
Airplanes and displays are located at Hagerstown Aircraft Services, 14235 Oaks Springs Rd. Hagerstown, MD 21742. From Route 11 at the airport turn onto Basore Drive at Tony's Pizza and follow the signs. For more information visit: www.hagerstownaviationmuseum.org or call 301-733-8717.
